West Mendip Orchestra

West Mendip Orchestra

West Mendip Orchestra (formerly Winscombe Orchestra) is a medium sized, friendly amateur orchestra. Our members come from a wide area including Bristol and Bridgwater, Wells and Weston-super-Mare.

We perform three or four concerts each year from the classical repertoire. Our concerts often feature well-known local soloists and also young talented musicians early in their careers, as well as music composed especially for us.

We rehearse from 7:45pm to 10pm on Fridays in term-time at The Lynch Chapel Hall in Winscombe.

First Rehearsal Date Changed

Members please note that the first rehearsal for the new season will be on Friday 11th September, not on the 4th as originally scheduled.

New Conductor Appointed

The orchestra is excited to announce the appointment of Nicholas Bromilow to be our conductor and music director, starting in September 2015.

Players Wanted

The Orchestra is looking for string players, a timpanist, trumpet and horns. We don't hold auditions, but members need to be able to play music in the classical orchestral repertoire. Please contact the chairman for more details.
